+ What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care. Nutritional therapy practitioners use a wide range of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. This approach allows them to work with individuals to address nutritional balance and help support the body towards maintaining health. Nutritional therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine and is relevant for individuals with chronic conditions, as well as those looking for support to enhance their health and wellbeing. Practitioners consider each individual to be unique and recommend personalised nutrition and lifestyle programmes rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Practitioners never recommend nutritional therapy as a replacement for medical advice and always refer any client with ‘red flag’ signs or symptoms to their medical professional. They will also frequently work alongside a medical professional and will communicate with other healthcare professionals involved in the client’s care to explain any nutritional therapy programme that has been provided.” (BANT, 2018)

+ How do I make an appointment?

Please get in touch to discuss your requirements. You can either email hello@janapapajova.com or use the contact form.

+ How can I pay?

Payment can be made by bank transfer or via PayPal up to 2 days prior to your consultation. The cost outlined are for the consultation only. There may be additional costs if supplements or laboratory testing is recommended. However, these are optional and will be discussed in detail during your consultation.

+ Do I need to do anything before my first consultation?

You will be sent a detailed health questionnaire including a 5-day food diary to complete and return to me at least 3 days before your consultation - failure to return this to me will result in lost consultation time and may mean your appointment will have to be rescheduled. It's also wise to send any health data or test results.

+ Why do you only offer packages?

Nutritional Therapy requires ongoing support and realistic timeframes within which to monitor and reach health goals and therefore one-off appointment is unlikely to help you.

+ What if I need to cancel?

I understand unexpected things happen, and that sometimes appointments need to be cancelled and rescheduled. However, appointment hours for initial consultations are limited, so I need to ensure they are used effectively and for this reason, I operate with a strict 48-hour cancelation policy. Please notify me at least 48 hours before your appointment if you need to cancel or rearrange. Cancellations within 48 hours or non-attendance will be charged at 50% of the consultation fee.

+ Where do consultations take place?

Consultations take place via Skype or telephone. These consultations are just as in-depth as in-person, my approach and service is exactly the same. In my experience, clients tend to find this easier and more convenient to fit within their busy lifestyle.

+ How many consultations do I need?

The number of consultations required depends on your current health status and what you want to achieve. Please feel free to contact me to discuss.

+ Do you offer home visits?

Yes, home visits can be arranged. However, there may be an additional fee to cover travel expense.

+ Should I tell my GP?

Yes, I recommend you tell your GP that you are working with a nutritional therapist to avoid any possible reaction between medication and the nutritional programme.

+ Is it safe to see a nutritional therapist if I am on prescription medication?

Yes, a qualified Nutritional Therapist is trained to identify drug-nutrient interactions. I ask my clients to include all their medications on the nutritional questionnaire so that I can ensure that my suggestions comply with their prescription medication.

+ I am feeling better; can I stop my medications?

No, please speak to your GP who can help you in this matter.

+ Do you recommend supplements?

I always prioritise food over supplements. However, sometimes the best way to correct a lack of a specific nutrient is to use a higher dose of that nutrient that cannot be obtained through diet alone. In those cases, I may recommend supplements.

+ Do you recommend functional tests?

In some circumstances testing may be recommended in order to develop a more targeted protocol. However, these are optional and will be discussed in detail during your consultations.
